Milner intuition

Is Milner unloading Facebook at the perfect time?
Me thinks so...

Russian Internet company Mail.Ru Group may sell its Facebook stake after company’s expected initial public offering, the Russian firm’s co-founder and chief executive told Dow Jones Newswires Monday.
Mail.Ru may sell its 2.38% stake in Facebook if the market valuation is “good enough,” Dmitry Grishin said in an interview at an annual technology event Tech Crunch in Moscow.
Mail.Ru Chairman Yuri Milner is an investor in dozens of hot U.S. tech companies, including Groupon, Zynga and Facebook. The Wall Street Journal recently reported Facebook is eyeing an IPO in the second quarter of next year at a hoped-for valuation of more than $100 billion.
Grishin said Mail.Ru will decide whether to sell the stake depending on how high the number is once the IPO actually happens.

Putins Charades

With all of Mr Putin's top guns abandoning the sinking lame duck I-Phone loving Medvedev it seems clear that MR Putin does not see the reality of the situation. His constant re-shuffling and spitting down at the semi-elites, disregarding their opinions and openly mocking them is creating a huge problem for him with the under the 45 crowd. They might deal with corruption but they will refuse to deal with open slaps in the face. Mr Surkov the chief propaganda specialist has now been moved the from the President Administration to the deputy of Prime minister, for the purpose of this blow we shall call him "czar"
Mr Narishkin a close Putin confident is now the speaker of parliament. Putin continues to play these games where he allows Medveded to say something and over-rules him with counter measures the next day. I actually feel bad for the technology loving micro manager Medveded he was picked perfectly.
No balls, No charisma, no principles, and the desire to give one of the most important political posts in the world for a safety net of a few billion dollars and a warm seat in some position where he will steal have his slaves, he will still make money and no one will still consider him a person of power.
He is also most likely avoiding long jail sentences if the power and the winds of change ever sweep Russia.

The problem with all of this is that Putin has never used the internet in his life. He thinks he is able to dominate with only state TV forever. He does not understand that the growth of internet users is huge.
He refuses to believe that his popularity on the internet is at around 14%.

In Russia they say "ustalost metala" Which basically means that if you keep twisting and turning the metal long enough it will brake. This is Putins mistake, his face does not infuse stability anymore, it promotes apathy, lethargy and a whole new bread of people who are just sick and tired of the Charades.

Does Prochorov have balls?

The question that every sane Russian is asking himself today...
Does he really have balls?
Can he play the game long enough to have a shot at actually winning and flip?
I give it a one in a million shot. No one wants to go to jail, especially when you are not 50 yet and have tens of Billions. But for a second think, what if he really had balls of steal?
What if he really did?

Wishful Thinking.
Respect to him for even trying his hand at the Russian Roulette that is Russian Politics.

Distant Jewish royal relatives lol

Considering i am a technical atheist with a mix of Baruch Spinoza spiritualism and have been known to make quotes such as "the only time for being spiritual is during an orgasm"
I find it extremely humorous and exciting to think that my Grandfather comes from the same place "Lubavachi" now Belorussia as the great , Rabbi Schneur Zalman...
Considering that my Grandfathers name is also Zalman ( the Jews used to have their last name as their first name back in the day, it was easier for the Russians to pick them apart that way it makes it even more interesting.... Here is the brief history of the great
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn (Schneerson son of Shneer or Shneur ) and my research into it.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn (Schneerson), famed as the "Tzemach Tzedek" after his magnum opus on Talmudic law, was born on the eve of Rosh Hashana 5549 (1789), to Rabbi Shalom Schachne and Devora Leah. His maternal grandfather was Rabbi Schneur Zalman (Baruchovitch) of Liadi-Lyozna, founder of Chabad Chassidus, and popularly known as the "Alter Rebbe" (Old Rabbi), or simply as the "Rav." Two great works of Rabbi Schneur Zalman are Tanya and Shulchan Aruch, on Chassidus and Torah law respectively. Rabbi Menachem Mendel's father-in-law was his uncle Rabbi Dov-Ber Schneuri, the "Mitteler Rebbe," whom he succeeded as head of the Chabad Chassidim on Kislev 10, 5588 (1827 ), until his passing on Nissan 13, 5626 (1866) .
When Rabbi Menachem Mendel was fifteen, Rabbi Schneur Zalman instructed him to work with his uncle, Rabbi Moshe, in communal affairs. This was in addition to his responsibility to study all inquiries on Torah matters, and after discussion of the law with Rabbi Yehuda Leib of Yanovitch (Rabbi Schneur Zalman's brother and author of Sheris Yehuda), to submit responsa in outline to Rabbi Schneur Zalman.
After residing briefly in Haditch where Rabbi Schneur Zalman had been interred in 1813, Rabbi Menachem. Mendel settled in Lubavitch, Mogilev province, in 1814, with his father-in-law. He stipulated that no communal problems intrude on his studies. His assiduity in study was exceptional, 1 and he continued to examine all Torah inquiries received by Rabbi Dov-Ber. When Rabbi Dov-Ber approved, he would answer the letters. This regime lasted about twelve years.
1 "I generally studied eighteen hours daily, including five hours in writing; he wrote to his son.
In a supplement to Torah Or (N. Y. 1954, p. 285), Rabbi Joseph I. Schneersohn writes:
By the age of ten (Rabbi Menachem Mendel) had a swift and beautiful hand. He could write a page of thirty lines in five or six minutes. Every day he wrote for three hours, and to make up for Shabbos and Holy days, he wrote the following evening. Once his son complained about the excessive stringency of a teacher, R. Gershon. "Is that stringent?" Rabbi Menachem Mendel exclaimed. "It is nothing compared to the regimen I imposed on myself at the age of nine, regarding hours of study and writing."
In later years Rabbi Menachem Mendel attributed his success at the Rabbinical Commission of 1843 to three merits. One was the 32,000 hours he spent during thirty years in profound study of Rabbi Schneur Zalman's works, and the commentaries he wrote then twenty hours every week.
Rabbi Dov-Ber was accused1 in 1826 of subversive activities, and ordered to appear in Vitebsk. At this point Rabbi Menachem Mendel entered public life. His first undertaking was the organization of a committee, composed of people from various circles, to defend Rabbi Dov-Ber. He also laid t efforts on establishing farm colonies in Vitebsk and Minsk provinces; Mogilev boasted a great many colonies by that time.
1 While fleeing Napoleon's armies Rabbi Schneur Zalman died. All the family's possessions in Liadi were destroyed. Rabbi Dov-Ber was then in Kremenchug in Little Russia, and from there he went to settle in Lubavitch in White Russia. Chassidim en route provided him with means to establish himself in his new home. Upon his arrival however, he decided to distribute the funds to the needy, and wrote to a relative about forming a committee of three to supervise the allocation. In this letter he referred to a "considerable" sum.
Years later this letter came into the hands of the recipient's heir, as unscrupulous and vengeful enemy of the Rabbi. He harbored air implacable hatred of the Rabbi for some personal family "slight." He attempted to use this letter to blackmail the Rabbi, but the Rabbi refused to be intimidated by a perfectly innocent letter.
With some judicious doctoring, the figures in the letter, "three or four thousand rubles" became "one hundred and three or four thousand." This was indeed a "considerable" sum. What could be its purpose? And how did he gather such a sum on so short a journey? Simple. He was plotting a revolution! The money was destined for the Turks, who then ruled the Holy Land. The regular remittances to needy scholars there lent an air of credibility to the charges.
Other weird accusations were made concerning the dimensions of the Rabbis synagogue being similar to those of the Jerusalem Temple, and of course that meant that he intended to be King of Israel or something. The similarity to the charges leveled against Rabbi Schneur Zalman ( fn. 37) in 1798 is striking.
In the fall of 1826 the Rabbi was instructed to appear in Vitebsk, the provincial capital. This was done in a most respectful manner, through high-ranking officers and arrangements to suit the Rabbi. Hundreds accompanied him from Lubavitch, and at every village the elders met him with the traditional bread and salt. The honor and reverence accorded him by Jew and Gentile deeply impressed the officials.
Governor-General Chavanski, a harsh man who entertained little affection for the Rabbi, conducted the investigation. However, Dr. Heibenthal, Jan Lubomirski, and others interceded on his behalf. He was treated with dignity and later permitted to worship publicly, lecture on Chassidus, etc. He was officially informed that he was completely exonerated of all suspicion and released on Kislev 10, a festival among Chassidim ever since.
For details of the dramatic trip and investigation, see Hatomim II, Warsaw, 1935, p. 74 ff.
The Kherson farmers1 had demonstrated the feasibility of Jews' settling on farms. They prospered there, and many regularly gave tithes to charity, a portion to be distributed at the discretion of Rabbi Dov-Ber. The settlers in Vitebsk, Minsk, and Mogilev received aid from the reconstruction fund established by Rabbi Dov-Ber, and a large proportion of the loans had been repaid into the agriculture fund.
1 Chabad Rabbis were always concerned about the material welfare of Jews, not only about their spiritual condition. In order to alleviate their economic distress he encouraged farming, a previously unfamiliar occupation. To this end he persuaded the Government to allot land in Kherson province for Jewish settlers. He arranged for their settling, supplied them with the necessities, and spent a full summer with them at the time. ( Kuntres Umayon, New York, 1943, p. 14.)
Rabbi Dov-Ber's last three years, 1825-1827, were hard. Because of the depression the contributions for the families in the Holy Land1 were only one third of the required sum, and the debts were overwhelming. Rabbi Dov-Ber loaned money from the agriculture fund to complement the contributions.
1 About the year 1777, a group of Chassidim established a colony in the Holy Land under the leadership of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Vitebsker (Horodoker) -- for whom the Tzemach Tzedek was named -- and elder confrere of Rabbi Schneur Zalman.

Could i be the chosen one?
:)
Well considering my views on universal morality and philosophy they wouldn't be happy with me anyway but it was a fascinating research at any cost.

Maybe one day God will talk to me and i will wear the black robe and let that nice hat, maybe i will re-read the Torah again...
I really doubt that will happen, but i am looking forward to it.
I have a lot of questions ( i guess that is the cultural jew in me, always with those questions)

Russian Panic

With the lethargy that the high oil prices have provided to the Russian Elite in the last 12 years it seemed everyone went to sleep and actually forgot what country they lived in, and who was running it.
The happy summers in South of France, the winters in Switzerland. The slow monotone complaining behind closed doors about "how tired we all are of this says some slightly overweight semi-intellectual says while getting his private jet ready after paying of some new appointed FSB General for the ability to conduct his business" This apathy of the elites is always the calm before the storm, they are always the last to know that people are tired of their faces. They are always surprised that some people in their country aren't completely brain dead. They found out that the TV channels that work so well in all authoritarian states have started to lose it's steam. No one honestly cares anymore what other lie the Putin Medvedev combo have presented for the evening news. They say a revolution happens in the minds when the working class can not  and the elites does not want. This is exactly the situation that is happening in Russia. No one gives a shit about the government for absolutely different reasons, some are tired of the corruption, others are so used to living overseas they couldn't care if it all burned down tomorrow. What happens when the machine stops working?
The ones that have no other chance in life but to stay in the country step to the front. This is exactly what is happening now, the low middle class with some money thrown in is pissed off.
They are fine with the bribes and constant fear, they are ok with the State run TV bullshit.
They are absolutely fine with being dirt under the feet of 120 of Putins friends and 14,000 friends of those 120 friends. They are not fine with one thing: They do not want to be told they are politically  mentally handicapped: They agree with being slaves but when you go out of your way and remind them that they are something snaps. Some philosopher wrote that every prostitute has an inch of pride in her. This is what is happening in Russia, the people just don't want to be openly told they are shit anymore.
The apathy that the elites have created, the dreams they had about another 12 years of no headache theft and injustice will not happen. Putin is going to win the election, but from the moment 100,000 people said no the collective mindset changed.
People said: We are not shit and the country will never be totally the same again.

With hope

Hamas

This point of view is always going to be viewed as "skewed"
I grew up in a Jewish household, my father is Agnostic so is my Mother, however Jewish traditions have always been held up in our household, like most of those traditions they come from my Grandmother may she live forever and our "old school" part of the family.
Saying all of this i have tried to be as impartial as i can be in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict over the last 7 years. I have studied the harsh conditions the Palestinians live in, i have reviewed some of the cased about the excessive violence used by the Israeli military.
This conflict is not as old as some people make it out to be. A lot of people forget that in the late 18th century the Jews were the Arabs last problem with the Ottoman empire being completely destroyed, with settlers looking for land all over the desert, the Jews were the forgotten link. Until they decided to invest heavily in the desert, until they started supporting the 100,000 merchants/farmers living there.
I will not try to explain to play devils advocate here i strongly believe that Israel has a right to exist.
Wars have consequences, i see no reason why borders are even up for discussion.
I will say this however. Hamas is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Palestinians i listened to their lectures, i listened to their moderate clerics, i tried to force my logical brain to understand why is it not possible for 21 Arab countries to provide a stable fund of "reconstruction of Palestine" if they are to agree to accept Israel.
All of these questions are met with absolutely unique historical fallacies, astounding hypocrisy, rage, lies and insanity.
The whole world knows that Israel will not allow a nation that wants to destroy it to form on it's borders, it has enough of them doing proxy wars as we speak, yet the logic behind some politicians, the Jewish Americans who actually believe that something can be accomplished while negotiating with HAMAS?
Have they listened to them talk?
Is this one of those Jewish moments where we have to act like we are peaceful people and we will ignore the 99.99% of vile threats, insults and proposed genocide as just part of the "nation building unity" that is going on there?
Are we inventing new rules for the Jews again?
You can threaten with destruction, you can accuse, you can use false propaganda but as long as it is used against the "Zionist regime" It seems to be fair game.

I have tried to see the other side of the argument.
The older i become the more pragmatic i become.
If you do not want peace, if you do not want to stop the madness, if you do not want to vote the people who are forcing you into all of this personal responsibility has to come in play.

I would like for Palestine to have it's state.
I would fight a war if necessary for it not to be based around Hamas, Radical Islam and the logic of "Jerusalem will be ours we will walk in as martyrs"

The history of Palestine had the first mullah supporting Hitler in 1938, if you ask the current leader of Hamas would he be happy with the final solution that was so politicized in Europe that more than 50% of Jews Perished.

I want to have a civilized dialogue with Hamas and and every other Iran-Radical Islam supported group bot for them even "dialogue with a jew is defeat"

People elected Hitler, and Stalin had 95% support of his people, i don't care who votes for Hamas.
The people that vote for them want the war, the people that vote for the want the carnage, the people that vote for them want to join Allah.
I am a brutal skeptic and i see that Israel is helping the people that vote for Hamas achieve their ultimate goal.

I miss the 90's....

Watching Russia deteriorate to what it is today makes me extremely sad. When people openly start to remember the 90's as the "bad" years it makes me realize that a country that was made for slavery just can not step over it's genetic shortcomings.
During the "wild" we all had dreams, we all had friends, and most important of all we honestly felt it was going to get better. I was young ambitious, idealistic and i felt free in that wild insane country.
Putin turned into a jail for anyone with intellectual potential, unless you are a bureaucrat, cop, a friend of the system , or just a dude who has a high tolerance for risk like Mr Chhodorkovsky used to have you are living there on borrowed time. Some people do it for money others hate silently.
I do not hate i just feel extreme sadness when i think what could of been.
When Putin he came to power i said it will take him 20 years to destroy the country completely. I think was overly optimistic in my assessment.

Battle of the Russian past. Sadly it never left...

Someone wrote in astonishment that the Russian blogosphere barely discusses the “case of the century” — the lawsuit that self-exiled billionaire revolutionary Mr Berezovsky  filed against fellow tycoon and soccer enthusiast and Yacht collector Mr Abramovich with the High Court in London. The “gray cardinal of the Kremlin” — as the Financial Times dubbed Berezovsky in the 1990s — filed charges against Abramovich, one of the richest Russians and a fellow resident of London. Berezovsky claims that Abramovich underpaid him for his shares of companies he acquired during Russia’s wave of privatization in the 1990s. The case consistently makes headlines in the international press but goes virtually unnoticed by Russians.
On the other hand, what is there to discuss? For a really good debate, we need sensational new details or a little drama. So far, the legal proceedings have produced neither. We can thank the Russian press of the late 1990s and early 2000s for the lack of new details. The main heroes of Russian industry have testified under oath — that is, on risk of losing their right to live in London — and recounted in detail all of the same things we read in the Russian papers a decade ago. What is interesting is to learn what close friends the two men were, and it is amazing to consider the extent to which even extremely large and risky transactions were based on nothing more than mutual trust

It was simple from the way i look at it.
Berezovsky always thought he was smarter than everyone else, with horrible people skills he has managed to lose most of his money in 10 years of trusting and investing based on past friendships and relationships. Abramovich with his close team and his mouth always shut outplayed maybe one of the smartest men in Russian oligarchy on the simple thing people tend to forget about when big money get involved "trust"

Mr Boris never had time for contracts, never had time to see what he was investing in and what his exit strategy would be. He was overconfident, his partners were more like intellectual kids for him.
He lost. Even if he wins some money back to continue to pay for his lifestyle he has lost the most important thing of all. People do not consider him a serious man ( Coen brothers reference)
He played so much chess with him self that at the end he turned out to be just like Bobby Fisher.
I wish the old man wins one more battle, he must be respected for his fighting spirit.
